How To Spend Your Vacation
I have recently gotten out of school to travel back home and enjoy the break with my loved ones. I have traveled a long distance to break away from the books and the schedule to just sit back and relax. I have long needed this vacation and I’m sure many other students have also looked forward to relaxing a little bit. I have been going nonstop since the beginning of 2017. Although I really want to relax, I could not just sit here and not do anything for a month. These are some ideas that I would recommend to spend a short vacation well-occupied.
1. Crafting.
I would say that one of the most relaxing and rewarding feelings is to craft and get on a creative flow. Especially throughout the holidays, crafting, coming up with ideas and DIYs are a great way to decorate the environment and get in the spirit of the season. I think crafting is a great motor activity because it involves using your fine motor skills as you think of unique ways to apply your creativity and it usually relaxes people. Crafting is also rewarding for the fact that you get to keep your creation and brag about it to your friends.
2. Catch Up On a Series.
Catching up on series is such a good thing to do. I think with so many novels, movies and series coming out every month we don’t have as much as we’d like to become immersed in all of them. Every year there is a series that becomes major news and changes popular culture as we know it. I think as college students and young citizens we should know some of the most important ones, and not miss out on the excitement and richness of the story. “Fifty Shades of Grey,” “The Hunger Games,” “Harry Potter,” “13 Reasons Why,” “New Girl” and so on are series that our generation abides by. There are main reasons as to why these literary and videography legends have made history. Throughout the holidays, becoming enriched by these is such a good way to enjoy some hours and have something interesting to talk about when you get back to school. There is so much to learn from published fiction out there.
3. Work Out, Create a Fitness Plan.
Working out has been proven again and again in research to prevent all diseases and make people significantly happy. Although it is not the easiest thing to get up to the gym, getting back to school with some pounds off and a smile on your face is worth the work. I would say that creating a fitness plan throughout the holidays and sticking to it could be a fun way to spend your vacation. This is a perfect time to catch up on your miles as there is not much homework to be done, and you could go to the gym at any time that works for you. There are a lot of blogs and a strong online community supporting health and wellness.
4. Plan Out Your Time For When You Get Back To It.
This time of vacation is so full of unoccupied hours, that you can use this time to plan out some major things for upcoming semesters. I think that grabbing some colors and inspiration you could point out some major goals that you need to accomplish and write out the sub-goals that could get you there. I would start looking for resources, dates and events that could help you to the next step you want to take. I think using this valuable time to project where you want to be within the next six months and year could be very definitive in actually getting you there. I think that if you take a look at class schedules, work schedules, and deadlines for the upcoming semester you would be taking a step ahead at starting the semester strong and not letting it catch you unprepared.
5. Experiment.
Vacation is a unique and valuable time to go out and do things you have never done before. I think we all go into our vacation with the expectations to accomplish bucket list items, and have an overall exciting new experience. I would definitely use this time to get to places you’ve never been before, meet some new people and get in the mode of being open to new things. I think especially in the winter holidays, with the new year approaching we are all planning to start “the new life”. The winter holidays are a good time to set up the stage to renew yourself as a person and achieve the things you’ve been wanting to do. There are many cool restaurants and cafes to see, free events to go to, movies to see, and road trips to catch. This is a great time to reinvent yourself.
